If you would just like to find out what the Phragmites programs are all about or actually what you have to do to control your Phragmites please join us on June 1. From 9 to 10AM you will hear all the details about the various features of the Clay Township Phragmites Management Program and from 10 to 11AM we will be presenting a Phragmites Management Workshop with all the details a homeowner needs to manage and control the Phragmites on their property. Only Clay Township and Algonac property owners can be included in the permits, however others can join to take advantage of the other aspects of the program such as purchasing the chemicals at special prices. Applications to participate in the programs and to order chemicals will be available at this meeting and members of the Phragmites Advisory Board will be there to assist with and accept your completed applications.
If you are not able to attend this meeting you can visit www.ClayTownship.org/Phragmites to learn more and get a copy of the applications. Attendance at a workshop is required to be a participant in the Clay Township Phragmites Management Program but not for the DU grant program. A second workshop is scheduled for Saturday, August 17, 2013. Participants who attended a Clay Township Phragmites Management Workshop in 2011 or 2012 do not need to attend one this year. Welcome to the Clay Township Phragmites Management Advisory Board web site. The Phragmites Advisory Board (PAB) was established on April 5, 2010 by a Clay Township Board of Trustees
Resolution for the purpose of developing a Phragmites Management Plan for the Township. The Clay Township Phragmites Management Plan was approved by the Clay Township Board of Trustees on June 7, 2010. Part of the Plan included having an annual action program, The Clay Township Phragmites Management Program, to assist property owners with the control of Phragmites. The Program is different from the Plan in that the Plan is a long range plan for managing the Phragmites within the community as opposed to the Program which is the list of things which the Township would like to do this year. The
members of the Clay Township Phragmites Management Advisory Board (PAB) include representatives from Government, Clay Township and Algonac property owners from the mainland and the islands.
Meetings of the PAB are open to the public.
If you have any questions please contact the PAB by calling 810-519-2985.
