Phragmites Management Workshop
Presented by the Clay Township Phragmites Management Advisory Board
Saturday, June 19, 2010, 9 AM
Clay Township Hall, 4710 Pte. Tremble Rd., Clay Twp., MI 48001
Phragmites is the common reed plant that has taken over much of our shoreline, canals and wetlands. It out competes the native plants and creates a monoculture of reeds. It reduces the biodiversity of plants and therefore the biodiversity of animal life as well as restricting views, limiting access to the water and presenting a fire hazard. If you are ready to fight back come to the Clay Township Hall on Saturday, June 19 from 9 to 11 AM for a presentation on what you can do on your property to control phragmites. At this workshop you will learn the actual process, supplies needed and the timing of treatments to make them affective. A portion of the presentation will include an introduction to the Advisory Board and the Clay Township Phragmites Management Plan that is designed to help property owners in their efforts to control Phragmites.
There is no charge for this event. To register call or send an email with your name, address and phone number saying “registration for June 19 event.” Contact - Bob Williams – 248-388-0465, Bob@StewartFarm.org
